Alaska Smokehouse, started in Ketchikan in the early 1980s, specializes in hot-smoked wild-caught Alaskan salmon, using traditional Native American methods of alder wood smoking and brining. In 1997, the company was acquired by World Wide Gourmet Foods, which continues the tradition of smoking and packaging fish in Alaska before shipping it to their Washington state headquarters for distribution. They offer a variety of products, including smoked salmon fillets, salmon jerky, and salmon spread, all processed and packed in retort pouches that lock in freshness without preservatives or artificial ingredients.
